We all have the privilege, for a little time, of giving short testimonials. Please let everyone give some word of demonstration; what has been done for you; how you have proven these words of Jesus Christ; how you fulfilled the promises of Jesus Christ. How then, the meeting is yours. MR. WILSON: If there is a man in this country that can give a better testimonial for this Society than I can, I would like to see him. It is nearly five years ago when I came here. I was almost a total wreck, in body and mind. I - at times it seemed as though I couldn't hardly live. I had been held on the verge of insanity for fifteen years, but I can say that it is all gone. There was times then that I didn't care whether I lived or not. I had five cronic diseases that I got in the antiy during the CiVil War. They are pretty much all gone. 10 There was another disease, too, that came on to me three years ago, and I was told - I tried the doctors down-town - they couldn't cure it. There was one doctor that held four diplomas from four different Medical Colleges that he had graduated from, and he examined me and he said, "You can't he cured"; and he said, "This has set up a complication with the old things you got in the army, and you will have this as long as you live". I said, "No, I will not!" I came here and they are gone, everything; and not only that, hut my mind has cleared up wonderfully, and to-day I feel that I can meet anybody, anything. I don't fear anything whatever; I have no fear. MR. FILLMORE: That is a good straight talk. Somebody else? MADAME ________: I came from Boston to Kansas City to he at Unity. I felt that I might get some benefit here; and I am more and more glad that I came, because I feel that I gained so much in this way. I didn't get rid of any diseases. I think the great gain is to remember - to know clearly what powers are in us; and it isn't so much in the body, it is in the consciousness, in the realization of the powers that are within us, and the consciousness of what we can do for ourselves, in preserving ourselves against all sorts of different things, and then what we can do for the woM at large, through this thought. What appeals to me very much is the - I don't know whether it is in the book or not - it is a channel for the power to flow through, sot hat we do not offer an obstacle. That is what we do before we understand - we offer an obstruction to this In- finite Life and Power and Wisdom to flow through you. The best thing we can do is to cease to offer such, and to be a channel through which it may flow, through us to others, because, of course, it has to flow through something. It must flow through us, and as long as we offer an obstruction, we suffer and when we cease to offer an obstruction, when we have become fully a free channel for the Power to flow through, then, of-course, we are so one with it that we no longer suffer, that all power is ours. And I should like at the same time to say _ of how very very grateful I feeL to Mr. Fillmore, and how much all of this understanding he gave me of meeting that ideal understanding. Of course we know that every one of us has to fight his own battle; and we find more and more,-after a while, we realize that we could get help sometimes of others, and yet we realize so clearly that we must demonstrate every one his own power, that ve might come to the point that we do it ourselves. But I can't begin to speak my gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Fillmore^ and for the beautiful attitude about Unity that can't be analysed and described, but it is a very beautiful thing. MH. FILLMORE: We are very glad of this testimonial from * , Ladame----------» on the eve of her leaving for California, which, she says, will be tomorrow, and we all bid her God-speed. Ne know that she has been blessed through the power of the word, which is manifest, and we have been blessed too. Someone else give us another good testimonial? Every word of Truth that you speak is a creative word. Acknowledg- 12 ing God; acknowledging that you have received help from God, is a word of Truth, because there is no other real source of health; and when you acknowledge in your spoken word this inner spiritual force, God acknowledges you, because your words create those conditions. You get up in a public meeting and tell what good you have received, and you create right in your thought atmosphere, you create right in your mind that good, and it becomes an abiding word. MRS*----:____: 1 could not tell, if I tried, all the good that has come into my life since I first came into Unity. I can only thank God for it all. MRo .— --------.• ^ "think I should have added another word. Since I have been here, people connected with Unity have been so very very kind, and live the life. The remarkable thing about Unity, I think, is that people do live the life; all practice what they preach. Someone said some time ago, "what sort of a man is Mr. Fillmore? Is he at all like what he talks about?" And I said, "Yes, I really think he is what he thinks about - exemplified, in itself, the place". Of course, that is always the question that people do ask. MR. FILLMORE: I don't think that any of us pretend that we have fully demonstrated all that we preach, but it is within the power of the word, and if we keep talking these words and holding to them, they will make us demonstrate these things, because it is the word or thought that creates. Once you discover that law, don't you see that you just are alert all the 13 time to grasp all true words and make them yours? That is putting into your mind and body a creative substance, and you have to came to that standard. It is the only thingjto hold true words, to believe in the words of Jesus Christ, and make them yours. MR. WILSON: I wish to add a few words. Years ago I was some- what excitable, and used to get excited about various things, religion, and everything that I talked about pretty much; but I have got now so that I can meet any person and talk with them, and I don't get excited at all. A man to-day, and man that I meet very often, and he is always insisting on an argument -"well, " I tell him, " - I don't want to argue with him, but he keeps at me until I make some kind of a statement, and then he will dispute it. And to-day I was in his store, and he pitched into me and I made a statement finally, and then he turned in to dispute it, and he clapped his hands together, and finally, when he got through, I went through the same motions, I clapped my hands together, and then I laughed at him and showed him how he looked when he did it; I went through the same motions just the same as he did, and then I had a good laugh over it. MR. FILLMORE: Someone else? HRS. ________: I certainly feel that I need the strength that comes from expression; and of course, I feel that I have the happy faculty of meeting - that this power is given to me that I may feel the power that lifts one out, and that we should have faith. It flashed through my mind that the Lord is my trust; that the Lord is good, and I held to that for a thought. MR.. FILLMORE: Trust and not be afraid. Someone else? We haven't got much time now. MRS.________: I don't know whether I have had any special de- monstration, but I know what a wonderful thing it is to me to realize that the power there 1b in us every day of my life - I have a chance to prove this wonderful thing; and I am grateful to Unity for the teaching. All my life I have trusted in the Savior, but I didn't know how my prayers would be answered, and I didn't know there was a law. But I am so glad now. I P know the law; I know how to abide in the Lord, how to abide in his Word, and let them abide in me; and I know why my prayers are answered now, because I have studied the teachings of J esua MRS. _________: I am thankful for the light that you have thrown on the test to-night. This abiding , to abide in the word is the reason that we have done or failed to do in this demonstration of the Truth we are studying. You have made that so beautifully clear to me, that abiding. MR. FILLMORE: Yes, I think that the longer and stronger you make your spiritual abiding, through affirmation, concentration, the more powerful your word becomes. Now, Mrs. Norton said we have a spirit every day to demonstrate; that is, there is a chance. Some of us think, "why, I don't have any opportunities to do that work; there is no chance forme!" WTe are just surrounded with opportunities. Now, our time is up, and here we have another opportunity to demonstrate the law. Now, all these little practical affirmations that we give in these meetings, holding 15 thoughts, why, you should every one enter right into it, try it. We have been trying it here for years, and we find it works. We wouldn't fool away our time holding thoughts and making statements unless there were some issue from those thoughts and statements. It is something to demonstrate. Now, if you come to a meeting, take part in it; try it on yourself. You will see then what it means. Now, we are going to heal people, heal ourselves, through, with one accord, joining together in a definite statement of Truth. Now, you can say to yourself, "The word of God, through Christ, abides in me"; and that word will make the Christ Mind a more fixed something in your mind, you will feel it; and if you say it again, "The word of God, through Christ, abides in me"- say it again, "The word of God, through Christ, abides in me" -keep saying it, and, why, you can steady yourself down if you are excited or disturbed and you don't know what you want to do; if you are weak or sick, a. simple statement like that will bring you out. We can say it to ourselves; we can say it to our neighbors; we can say it to people that need health. If we don't know specifically what they need, you can"say the word of Christ abides in you". You don't know definitely what they need, but speak some definite word. We speak words frequently to people, and it demonstrates the whole of it. We say, "the word will do the work". Now, we are going to take up the word. Everybody, no^ say it over to yourself. You can say it fast or slow, but say it with conviction that it is true, it is true the words that 16 the words of Christ abide in me. Let us say it three times in concert. (Repeated audibly). (Repeated silently). Fow, we are going to take up these names of people that we wish to help, and we will say, "The word of God, through Christ, abides in you". That will be the helping thought. That word will go to do the work. (Repeated audibly) . "Now, we will hold it silently. Give the names, and we will all join in that silent word. We will hold now for ourselves that"the word of God abides in us; through the word we are lifted up, we are healed; we are prospered; we are made more conscious of the presence and power and Love of God for us". PRAYER: We thank Thee, Almighty Father, that Thy word is a living, creating force and fire in us. We are purified by Thy word. We are made whole by Thy word - that we are creat- Christ ed new creatures in* Jesus by Thy word. (offering) MR. FILLMORE: The announcements of the meetings that are held here you will find in the Weekly Unity, at the door. On the back page is a column in which all of the meetings are mentioned. BENEDICTION': May the peace and the power and the Love and the Consciousness of God with us, he poured out upon you every one, in and through the word of the Lord Jesus Christ. A m e n.
